JOB DESCRIPTION:
Our Youth Development Specialist spreads the mission of Goodwill and finds work experience and job matches for our teen and young adult participants. This staff member's primary role will be to serve as a mentor in Goodwill's OneLife program. OneLife is a student development program where the Youth Development Specialist, along with the OneLife team, facilitates group sessions with high schools students, teaching life skills and soft skills. The Youth Development Specialist also coordinates paid workplaces experiences for these students with local businesses in each student's field of interest. Additionally, the Youth Development Specialist provides continued support, leads college tours, facilitates workshops, and collaborates with other team members on events and programs that support underserved youth.
The Youth Development Specialist will perform the following job duties:
Develop partnerships with school systems and local businesses.
Identify participant barriers to employment and graduation.
Instruction and facilitation of group meetings.
Case management regarding program and job related issues and follow-up services.
Administrative duties.
VALID NC DRIVER LICENSE REQUIRED (Will transport participants occasionally in vehicle)
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Ideal candidate has several years of experience in job placement in the human service industry and strong background working with underserved youth. Experience in employment training/teaching skills preferred.
