Atlas Technologies, a rapidly expanding company supporting the US Military and other Government entities, is seeking a passionate, flexible, highly motivated team player to join our group of Information Technology professionals.
This Technical Writer position supports our Department of Defense (DoD) client by developing and maintaining test documentation (plans, procedures, and reports), operations and maintenance manuals, and technical publications, both preparing written text and coordinating layout and manual organization. You will research available engineering/development information such as drawings, design reports, equipment, and test specifications to write specified copies for analytical, interpretative, documentary, or promotional literature. You may also interview engineers, software developers, and other technical personnel. The ideal candidate for this position will have proven technical writing experience in a technology-driven program or project supporting the US Navy. Telework is available for this position, up to two days per week off site and three days per week on site; however, there may be periodic surge events that require five days per week on site.

You Will:
- Research, develop, and write content for printed manuals, documentation, and supporting materials for software, hardware, technical procedures, and computer-related services.
- Prepare and maintain documentation relating to systems, programming, and operations following Government policy/instructions/standards for technical publications.
- Review and validate project-specific technical documentation.
- Obtain and track official document ID numbers and uploads products to government sites.
- Update specific technical documentation to adhere to government standards.
- Provide reports of documentation progress, status, and issues.
- Assist testing lead with the development of software test plans, procedures, and reports, including researching software changelogs and developing test procedures to validate functionality.
- U.S. Citizenship
- A Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Level Security Clearance
- Strong documentation and oral communication skills to clearly communicate with all levels of employees, management, and organizations
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, self-govern and balance multiple goals and priorities
- The ability to write testing documents, procedure manuals, and business correspondence.
- The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- The ability to work with teammates and technical experts in a highly collaborative environment
- Strong work ethic and commitment to quality
- Experience using Extensible Markup Language (XML) formats using prescribed Document Type Definitions (DTDs) or schemas.
- Experience with Navy or DoD documents, processes, procedures, and/or terminology is a plus.
- Experience with Adobe FrameMaker is a plus.
- Computer hardware, software, or technical background is a plus.
- Working experience and knowledge of any of the following documentation is considered a plus: SOVT, SOP, SOM, IETM, Technical Manual, PITCO, SDD, Test Plans, Load Plans, BESEP
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Computer Science, or a related field preferred, but other degrees may be considered in a combination of education, professional training, or work experience.
- DoD 8140\8570 Certifications to be qualified as an Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II, e.g. CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent
