Position Title: Network Engineer

Reports to: Business Development and Staffing Manager

Location: Trenton, NJ

Employment Status: Full-Time

Work Schedule: M-F, 7:30am – 4:30pm

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary: Aldevra is currently seeking a qualified Network Engineer to support the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JB MDL) in Trenton, NJ. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Duties And Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Monitor the Cisco SONET/DWDM network for faults/equipment degradations or failures.
• Responsible for the cutover of all circuits identified by the Government to the SONET network.
• Develop a cutover log, to be used for both existing and new circuits.
• Assist with the installation of all new circuits brought to the installation for integration on the SONET network.
• Document all task activities.
• Perform preventative and ongoing maintenance activities (routine, monthly and emergency), to include the installation of software (new software, software releases, software updates, and software fixes), and routine functions, to include troubleshooting and trouble resolution to ensure 100% continuance of operations.
• Develop a maintenance log and a troubleshooting log.
• Develop and maintain documentation and continuity manuals.
• Provide planning and execution support to staff as required for Cisco SONET and DMDW specific projects to ensure peak optimum efficiency of the SONET network including all upgrades and expansions.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, information technology, or engineering.
• 2 years of experience within the last 5 years relating directly to the Cisco SONET/DWDM network.
• Experience in Cisco SONET/DWDM, Wide Area Network, Metropolitan Area Network, and Local Area Network technology.
• Experience in planning, preparing, implementing, testing, troubleshooting, and documenting the cutover of circuits transitioned to a Cisco SONET/DWDM infrastructure.
• Valid driver's license
• Excellent verbal communication skills and telephone manner
• Excellent and accurate written communication
• Familiarity with Windows operating systems; online calendars and cloud systems; intermediate to advanced skills Microsoft office products required
• Excellent attention to detail; accurate data entry
• Customer Focused and team-oriented work ethic
• Able to multi-task efficiently and accurately, focusing on quality
