Job Description
This role oversees FPI’s Risk & Safety business unit, including the workers’ compensation claims management team and safety team.
Pay: $105,000 - $108,000 / Year
Duties And Responsibilities
Oversee the workers’ compensation function and team.
Provide guidance, oversight, and decision-making to a small team of workers’ compensation claims assistants/specialists.
Engage with FPI’s workers’ compensation carriers, brokers, TPA, state agencies, and legal counsel to ensure efficient functioning of claims management.
Collaborate with the non-occupational leave and disability management HR team members to ensure consistency in the management of leaves of absence and accommodations.
Target injury prevention goals with feedback from the Workers’ Compensation team.
Ensure OSHA 300 recording and posting compliance annually.
Oversee the employee safety function and team.
Manage direct reports responsible for policy development, training development, and compliance.
Ensure project delivery and maintenance of FPI’s employee safety-related programs.
Achieve compliance and regulatory goals and deadlines.
Respond to agency complaints and investigations.
Develop And Expand The Risk & Safety Team
Environmental and Operational Liaison roles have been approved but not yet developed or filled. Work with the HR Director to expand the Risk & Safety team to include these roles.
Collaborate and maintain positive, functional relationships with other Human Resource Department business units:
Leave & Accommodations will be a constant partner in leave and disability management practices as well as overlap or transitional cases (workers’ compensation; safety and health accommodations).
Employee Relations will be a partner in performance management, disciplinary action, and investigations related to overlap cases (ex: Workplace Violence Prevention Plan, safety policy violations, etc).
Recruiting and Onboarding will be partners related to hiring criteria, program compliance (ex: RPP medical clearance) etc.
Payroll and Benefits will be partners related to workers’ compensation claims and concerns.
Collaborate With Other FPI Teams
Including Marketing, Training, other administrative Support Departments, and Operations to ensure consideration of Risk & Safety in company practices and achieve compliance organization-wide.
Act in a subject matter expert/consultation role to provide insight and guidance on risk management and safety topics upon organizational need.
As a Committee member and representative (ex: Emergency Preparedness Committee member, Leonardo 24/7 Committee lead, Safety Committee lead, etc.)

Consistently and fairly enforce community rules and regulations, FPI Standard Operating Procedures
Comply with all Fair Housing Laws and FPI policies and procedures
Promote a professional image by adhering to FPI Management's Dress Code Policy.
Conduct displayed must be of a professional manner when communicating with employees, residents, prospective residents, clients, vendors, and guests while representing FPI Management.
Perform any and all functions as directed by the supervisor, including special project assistance
Responsible for meeting all training requirements for the position (Grace Hill, Safety Meetings, etc.).
WORKING CONDITIONS
Will work primarily in an office environment and/or telecommute from a remote home office location.
Working environment may include reporting to properties (site inspections), remote/alternative training locations (conferences, hotels, air travel), etc.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to view computer screens, mobile devices, and other electronic equipment for extended periods of time where visual strain may result
Must be able to operate computer keyboard and/or mouse for extended periods of time where finger, hand, and wrist strain may result
Must be able to work proficiently and effectively under time constraints and deadlines where stress may result
Must be able to push, pull, lift, carry, or maneuver weights of up to ten (10) pounds independently and twenty-five (25) pounds with assistance (excluding personal luggage transported during travel, if applicable)
May travel to attend training classes, business meetings, conduct site inspections, or to perform other business functions as required by this position
