Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Mortgage Loan Underwriter to become a vital member of our expanding national lending team. This remote position offers the opportunity to assess borrower financial and credit profiles, coupled with property evaluations, to enhance informed lending decisions. You will collaborate closely with our production team to facilitate seamless loan closings.

Key Responsibilities

• Underwrite and make decisions on agency-conforming, Jumbo, FHA/VA residential mortgage loans.
• Validate and scrutinize borrower financial documentation for compliance and completeness.
• Examine appraisal reports for any inconsistencies and address issues as they arise.
• Conduct thorough analyses of applicant income, expenses, assets, credit reports, and property valuations to ascertain loan eligibility.
• Calculate qualifying ratios (DTI, LTV, etc.) and evaluate creditworthiness.
• Offer clear risk assessments and make recommendations based on your evaluations.
• Prepare detailed findings reports and communicate them effectively to relevant stakeholders.
• Efficiently manage multiple loan files to ensure timely processing.
  
  

Required Skills

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in underwriting, with expertise in VA, FHA, Conventional, and Jumbo loans.
• Familiarity with FNMA, FHLMC, and Non-Conforming mortgages is highly advantageous.
• Proficiency in Desktop Underwriter (DU) and Loan Prospector/Loan Product Advisor (LP/LPA).
• In-depth knowledge of the mortgage lending process.
• Exceptional analytical capabilities and competency in conducting key loan calculations (DTI, LTV, etc.).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to excel in collaborative environments while managing multiple priorities effectively.
