General Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced IT Development Scrum Master to join our IT Development team. The ideal candidate will facilitate Agile development processes, ensure the timely delivery of high-quality software products, and enhance the productivity of our development teams. The Scrum Master will work closely with product owners, development teams, and stakeholders to foster a culture of continuous improvement and agile best practices.

FOUR DIAMOND SERVICE AGREEMENT

All Team Members will display a Four Diamond commitment to Guest Service through the delivery and maintenance of the Quality Standards established by Pechanga Resort Casino (PRC).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinement sessions.
  • Assist teams in self-organization, cross-functionality, and enhancing Agile practices.
  • Identify and resolve obstacles, ensuring smooth workflows and eliminating impediments independently with limited support.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners to manage and sequence the product backlog, clarify priorities, and define delivery timelines.
  • Monitor sprint progress, track key metrics, and ensure transparency in team performance.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement through experimentation, feedback, and learning.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration within the team and with external stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and coaching on Agile best practices and Scrum principles.
  • Act as a liaison between the development team and stakeholders to align expectations and manage dependencies.
  • Serve as a servant leader for multiple teams and their stakeholders.
  • Lead complex teams with external impacts or dependencies, including multiple system integration points.
  • Build high-performing teams and foster relentless improvement at both the Team and Program levels.
  • Improve team performance in areas of quality, predictability, flow, and velocity.
  • Utilize tools to create metrics that measure and report on team performance, backlog health, and continuous improvement.
  • Prepare for and participate in Program Increment Planning Sessions.
  • Engage in Scrum Master Communities of Practice, Scrum Mastery Sync Sessions, and Agile Release Train Sync Sessions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ACCOUNTABILITY: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. The Team Member is responsible for protecting the assets of PRC.

Qualifications And Guidelines

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) certification preferred. Advanced Scrum Master certification (e.g., A-CSM, CSP-SM) is a plus. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Scrum Master or in a related role. Experience in Agile transformations and adoption of Agile principles and practices. Understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure), and DevOps practices. Demonstrated ability to lead and be a team player. Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: This position requires an above average ability to read and comprehend simple, and increasingly complex instructions, short correspondence, memos and more. This position also requires the candidate to write concise and accurate correspondence to guests, while adhering to PRC brand standards. Must be able to express themselves and their thoughts and ideas clearly and professionally. Must have the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests, clients, and other employees of the organization is required as well.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: This position requires the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. This position also requires the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: This position requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. This position also requires the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Must qualify to obtain and maintain a class “A” gaming license.

Skills/Abilities

  • Familiarity with software development processes and technologies.
  • Experience with Agile tools such as Jira, Confluence, or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • High level of emotional intelligence and empathy.

This role will have the ability to work from home one day per week and potentially at other times as agreed upon by the Director.
