OPEN: November 25, 2024 CLOSES: December 6, 2024 The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is seeking a full-time Supervisory IT Specialist (001042481M), Ground Systems Nuclear Surety Cybersecurity Specialist to work in the Nuclear Surety & Certification Division (NTS) of the Nuclear Technology and Integration Directorate, Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) at Hill Air Force Base near Layton, Utah. This position is an NH-2210-04 which has typical 2024 salary ranges of $122,198 - $186,854 including locality pay. This position is not eligible for remote or full-time telework; situational-based agreements may be available at the discretion of the hiring manager. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Supervisory Nuclear Surety Cybersecurity Specialist, to lead all aspects for nuclear surety and certification for all ground launch weapon systems. This position serves as lead principal facilitator and technical advisor to the Surety and Certification Ground Launch Systems Branch Chief. This position supports the AFNWC’s #1 Mission Execution of Nuclear Surety and Certification throughout the United States Air Force. Candidates should have a strong background in Nuclear Surety principles, methods, and techniques to effectively apply certification efforts and practices across multiple weapon systems and platforms. Furthermore, the candidate will assess the impact of emerging technology on current systems and processes to formulate recommendations and solutions. DUTIES:

  • Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least 25% of the time. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets, and adjusts short- and long-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
  • Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the Ground Launched Nuclear Surety and Certification Team to include review and approval of all certification and compatibility requirements plans, verification evidence, independent nuclear surety evaluations, and technical nuclear safety analyses.
  • Serves as a consultant and expert in surety work involving the application of advanced theories, concepts, and principles related to development or sustainment of systems related to nuclear certification. Provide expert advice to senior colleagues and / or agency officials responsible for broad program operations.
  • Secure Software Assessor (622) (Proficiency Level: Intermediate) o Analyzes the security of new or existing computer applications, software, or specialized utility programs and provides actionable results.
  • Information Systems Security Manager (722) (Proficiency Level: Intermediate) o Responsible for the cybersecurity of a program, organization, system, or enclave.
  • Vulnerability Assessment Analyst (541) (Proficiency Level: Intermediate) o Performs assessments of systems and networks within the NE or enclave and identifies where those systems/networks deviate from acceptable configurations, enclave policy, or local policy. Measures effectiveness of defense-in-depth architecture against known vulnerabilities. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
  • A minimum of 10 years of nuclear surety and certification experience.
  • Experience leading teams of nuclear surety, compatibility, cybersecurity, and certification subject matter experts.
  • Subject matter expertise in Nuclear Surety policies for nuclear weapon safety and security with in-depth knowledge of DoD 3150.02, 91 series AFIs/AFMANs, and AFI 63-125.
  • Demonstrated experience assessing systems and writing Technical Nuclear Safety Analyses, assessing Nuclear Safety Cross-Check Analysis, and writing/coordinating Nuclear Certification Impact Statements, and Nuclear Safety Evaluation Reports. Ability to effectively brief the results of the analyses and reviews.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of weapon system stakeholders to include Nuclear Enterprise personnel from the Departments of Energy and Defense; Air Force Air Staff, MAJCOM Staff, AFNWC Staff/Wings/Divisions; field level users and their respective support agencies.
  • Ability to orally present and express ideas, information, and concepts clearly and concisely in a manner tailored to the appropriate audience.
  • Expertise in preparing high-quality reports to include supported recommendations, meaningful program information, written summaries, and results from synthesized data and/or metric analysis.
  • Proven ability to establish effective working relationships among team members coupled with strong problem solving and decision-making skills. REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:
