Biohabitats is seeking a Landscape Architect with a strong background in ecology and experience in nature-based design and/or ecological restoration to join our Southeast Atlantic Bioregion team in Charleston, SC.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational, analytical, design, and graphic communication skills that can be applied to a variety of projects including planning studies, in-field ecological assessments, preparation of design plans and construction documents, and materials to support community engagement initiatives. The successful candidate will work with our multidisciplinary team of scientists, landscape architects, and engineers to support ecological restoration, conservation, climate adaptation and resiliency, and environmental justice work for government, private, and non-governmental organizations.

Role And Responsibilities
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Landscape Architecture with a background in ecology or related discipline.
Years of Relevant Experience
5-8 years of relevant experience as a Landscape Architect
Professional Registration
PLA or ability to obtain through reciprocity within six months of hire date
Salary range
$75,000 - $85,000

Role And Responsibilities
- Support a range of planning and design projects to ecological restoration, conservation, climate adaptation and resiliency, and environmental justice.
- Create site-specific concept designs.
- Prepare design drawings, construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Conduct natural resources and watershed inventories and field assessments.
- Provide graphic communication support on projects and proposals.
- Participate in and leading community engagement initiatives.
- Support Southeast Atlantic Bioregion business development activities.
- Professional experience related to ecological restoration, conservation, and climate adaptation and resiliency.
- Applied experience supporting design projects (e.g. grading, soils, planting plans, and habitat enhancement features, etc.) from concept through construction drawings.
- Community engagement experience.
- Proficient in the use of Adobe Creative Cloud, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and Microsoft 365.
- Strong graphic, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to support or lead field assessments under a variety of weather and site conditions.
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
- Willingness to travel throughout the Southeastern United States.
- Love for wild nature and a dedication to restore the earth and inspire ecological stewardship is a must.
- Familiarity with ecosystems of the Southeast and native plant identification.
- Wetland delineation.
- Restoration construction and plant installation oversight experience.
- Professional networking experience in Charleston and/or throughout the Southeast.
