Description

The ideal candidate is a strategic and disciplined business leader focusing on firm and Affiliate growth and financial operations. The CFO will ensure financial stability with clear business and financial discipline and structure. They will collaborate with the Director of Finance on the financial planning process, manage risk, and collaborating on financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and adherence to financial regulations.

The candidate will also have strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, which will allow them to influence others. They will report to and work closely with the CEO, the Finance department's Director, including the Finance and Pension Committees.

Responsibilities

Financial/Strategic planning/Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Develop and implement company and Affiliates' financial strategy that aligns with overall growth objectives.
  • Monitor cash flow, improve net income, revenue cycle management, and accounts receivable strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance on long-term financial planning to support growth and profitability.
  • Monitor ongoing financial performance, ensuring timely communication with the CEO on trends and managing risk.
  • Collaborate on the preparation of financial statements, reporting, and forecasts in collaboration with the Finance team (and outside accounting partner where applicable.)
  • Review and monitor financial metrics and KPI’s making recommendations where necessary to the CEO.
  • Report on and present financial results in an articulate manner to the CEO, Finance & Pension Committees when needed.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance on the budget process in alignment with firm/Affiliate growth goals and strategic planning.
  • Review and monitor budgets, providing variance analysis with recommendations to correct.
  • Manage cash flow and financial projections appropriately.

Fundamental Support Of Accounting Procedures

  • Transactions and statements under GAAP
  • Forecast and budget.
  • Corporate, state, and local tax
  • Payroll and contract labor
  • Policies and procedures
  • Internal controls

Strategic Relationship Management (Internal & External)

  • Manage bank, insurance, and significant firm accounting relationships.
  • Large transaction relationships including negotiation, analysis, and recommendations for large assets purchases, leases, bank financing, insurance, and pensions.
  • CEO/Finance Committee/Pension Committee providing best practices for finance and accounting, and strategic plans to improve the company’s financial health.

Communication and Culture.

  • Together with the Director of Finance, provide communication between the Finance department and Affiliate companies/Champions with appropriate communications and updates to the CEO.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to the Finance team, leading by example.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (master’s degree or MBA is preferred).
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred
  • Minimum of 15-20+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or related fields, with at least five years in a senior leadership role.
  • High ethical standards and integrity
  • Strong business and financial acumen and financial expertise.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS).
  • Proven experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management.
