The Position

Environmental Scientists perform program research, planning and development, permitting, compliance monitoring, inspections/enforcement, and technical support services in relation to air, water, waste, federal facilities, corrective action, mining, biology and other environmental programs.

Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.

This recruitment is for an Environmental Scientist 1 that underfills an Environmental Scientist 3. This position works for the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection and is located in the Bureau of Corrective Actions in the Reno office. This position will perform compliance inspections/enforcement of federally regulated underground storage tank (UST) facilities. This position will be responsible for coordinating inspections, overseeing UST installations, UST removals, compliance reporting and communication with the regulatory community. The duties will also include maintaining the UST database. To Qualify

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the physical, natural resource or life sciences, engineering or closely related field; OR graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of technical environmental experience which involved assisting in environmental program research and planning; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
