Job Opportunity:
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity to join our growing Transactional Liability team in New York City or Boston as an M&A Analyst. The Transactional Liability team provides insurance in connection with Mergers & Acquisitions, including Representation and Warranty Insurance, Tax Insurance, and Contingent Liability Insurance. In this role, the M&A Analyst will collaborate with the underwriters on the team to assist on M&A deals seeking insurance. The position will provide in-depth exposure to M&A deals and the insurance industry.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Researching and analyzing company data, including reviewing financial statements, background information on targets and industries, and acquisition related documents.
- Managing a consistent stream of M&A deal opportunities that contemplate the use of transactional liability insurance.
- Preparing quotes and policy documents for the insurance of M&A deals.
- Engaging with insurance brokers, lawyers and clients for marketing purposes and developing marketing materials and presentations.
- Ensuring that deals move forward efficiently and in accordance with deadlines, through coordination with insurance brokers and lawyers.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- College degree required (preferably economics, finance, or accounting); Law school degree would be advantageous.
- No additional experience required (though additional corporate, financial, accounting, or legal experience will be a plus).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Careful attention to detail.
- Friendly, outgoing, proactive and able to work within a team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Desire to grow into underwriting role.

The base salary range for this position in New York is $110,000 to 125,000, along with annual bonus eligibility; a candidate’s salary is determined by their relevant skills and experience. We value our teammates – both their capabilities and character – as demonstrated by our amazing culture.
