POSITION DETAILS
Medgar Evers College (MEC), a nationally recognized leader in urban-serving education, is one of twenty five colleges within the dynamic City University New York (CUNY) System. Named for the late civil rights leader, Medgar Wiley Evers (1925-1963), the College's mission is to develop and maintain high quality, professional, career-oriented undergraduate degree programs in the context of liberal education .Located in Central Brooklyn, MEC was established in 1970 with a mandate to meet the educational and social needs of the Central Brooklyn community. The College is committed to a student-centered education and advancing knowledge through scholarly research.
The Confidential Executive Associate reports directly to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and will function as Manager of the Office of Academic Affairs. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing special initiatives within the scope of academic programs.
Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Develop and manage a portfolio of responsibilities under the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs’ purview such as approvals, Academic Deans and Department Chairpersons interactions, faculty support, and monitoring of key projects, programs, or activities.
- Independently carrying out a portfolio of projects relevant to the Division and providing project management oversight for various initiatives.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of office operations, train, support, and supervise the part-time administrative staff to ensure clearly defined roles and promote a culture of professionalism and accountability.
- Develop, improve, and implement processes to ensure the efficiency, consistency, and quality of the work output of the Office of Academic Affairs.
- Manage programs, workshops, conferences, and on and off-campus events involving the Office of Academic Affairs.
- Develop and facilitate training materials tailored to specific areas across the Division, designed to improve communications and service levels.
- Serves as the senior professional staff for the College-wide Personnel & Budget (P&B) Committee, overseeing the coordination of meetings and candidate material reviews, ensuring the efficient operation of the committee; Serve as liaison for various committees under the auspices of Academic Affairs; Provide support for special initiatives across academic departments.
-Facilitator of the New Faculty Orientation, Faculty Institute, and Staff Institute; Schedule College-wide Governance Committees meetings; Generate College’s administrative master calendar; -Prepare the calendar for Full-Time Faculty forms submission.
- Manage the Office of Academic Affairs webpages; Liaison for all OAA academic and administrative units for webpage upgrades; Co-manages the OAA Faculty Affairs’ email.
- Manage the seamless flow of work between the Office of Academic Affairs, and the academic and administrative units of the College, The University, and other constituencies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.
- A master’s degree.
- Competency in time management
- Advanced technological skills.
- Flexible work schedule.
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Supports a Campus or University Executive as a confidential assistant in a variety of activities and initiatives as a key team member.
- Organizes and manages projects involving different areas of the Campus or University community, with responsibility for project outcomes
- Represents the Executive's unit in Campus or University-wide activities, including committees, special initiatives, and implementation of new processes or technology
- Independently carries out a portfolio of responsibilities under the Executive's purview, such as approvals, student interactions, and monitoring of key activities
- Manages communications within and outside the unit related to areas of responsibility
- May serve as Manager of a large Executive Office
- Performs related duties as assigned

Salary commensurate with education and experience.
$93,491 - $96, 602
