This is a 100% contract appointment for 6 months with the possibility of extension or conversion to career status.

DESCRIPTION

The HR team supporting TES (Temporary Employment Services) functions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where most issues demand immediate attention due to the urgent, time-sensitive nature of TES roles. Streamlined processes, efficient resource use, and effective communication are key to ensuring smooth operations and delivering excellent customer service.

This position will provide support for a wide range of HR areas, including payroll issues, resume review, salary setting, onboarding and offboarding, wage and hour inquiries, and union contract interpretation. The Specialist will also provide guidance on benefits and employment-related issues, coordinate leave of absences and workers compensation claims, and apply professional human resources knowledge to guide employees, supervisors, and managers in resolving HR issues of moderate scope and complexity. Additionally, the role will involve maintaining HR data, running reports, analyzing information, and providing recommendations where appropriate.

This position will be required to work at least 2 days a week onsite at UCLA.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations; demonstrates organizational skills and problem-solving skills. Has working knowledge of other areas of HR.

  • Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures and knowledge of functional area.

  • Basic knowledge of human resources policies and programs, and how they affect other organizational policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of a human resources management system (HRMS), and / or other related business software programs and systems.

  • Proficient in communicating clearly and effectively verbally and in writing and in integrating information in the completion of assignments.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle difficult or volatile situations / individuals effectively.

  • Demonstrated competency with and commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging.

  • Must be bi-lingual. Fluency in English and Spanish required.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on Background Check results.

  • This position is hybrid with an anticipated onsite requirement of two days per week.

  • Overtime and weekends may be required.

  • This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and requires immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect of anyone under the age of 18. It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $63,800 - $111,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $30.56 - $53.45

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
