General Summary:

The UDT (Unum Decision Technologies) Program Manager plays a critical role in Unum’s Digital Transformation Organization (DTO), driving data-driven initiatives to support business objectives. This position oversees large-scale, highly visible programs, leveraging Agile methodologies to deliver measurable business outcomes. The Program Manager collaborates across business and technical teams to plan, execute, and monitor initiatives while maintaining a focus on value delivery, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Location: Hybrid (2 days onsite per week) at Portland, ME; Chattanooga, TN; Columbia, SC; or Atlanta, GA campuses.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant professional experience required.
  • 8+ years of experience in finance, project management, systems, or IT (preferred).
  • Advanced knowledge of Agile, Scaled Agile, and the Product Development Lifecycle.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Collaborative team player with experience engaging multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity and translating into actionable plans.
  • Skilled in creating process maps, dashboards, and presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership on complex initiatives valued at $1M+.
  • Project/program management certifications (e.g., PMP, Prince2, CSM, CSPO) are a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, monitor, and control program stages, ensuring successful delivery and proper closure while managing budgets.
  • Collaborate across teams to align activities with business goals and provide program visibility.
  • Identify and address risks, modifying management plans as needed to ensure program success.
  • Drive measurable improvements in operational effectiveness through innovative strategies.
  • Create and maintain clear communication channels with stakeholders, including executives.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental planning and collaboration to ensure program alignment.
  • Track and report on program progress, delivering updates tailored to audience needs.
  • Resolve conflicts and develop solutions that support organizational objectives.
  • Provide leadership and direction across teams, emphasizing business value and metrics.
  • Foster a financial and operational focus, ensuring program outcomes align with strategic goals.
  • Act as a role model for professionalism and critical thinking, driving productivity and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with Scrum Masters and other Agile roles to remove impediments and support feature delivery.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.
