Summary:
The Idaho Department of Correction is currently recruiting a Program Manager. The incumbent will work out of the Central Office while being focused on leadership and strategic thinking, utilizing data, dashboards, and planning to tell the story of the business. The person in this position needs to proactively identify new ways to use our existing data to support agency initiatives. We need a strategic thinker who will identify new trends and patterns that can be used by leadership to make data driven decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Hire, train and direct staff
- Develop standards and best practices
- Monitor performance & provide feedback
- Develop research methodologies including sampling techniques and selection
- Establish methods and procedures to assure quality of data collected
- Analyze information systems and make recommendations for change
- Prepare oral and written reports of findings and recommendations
- Use software to perform data analysis
- Prepare legislative reports
- Identify appropriate areas of research, evaluates feasibility, and develops priorities
- Engage with business to identify data needs then work with them to effectively use that data to tell their story
- Confer with internal staff and other departments to assess research needs
- Identify future research/data projects
- Identify methods to develop actionable insights and assist with agency initiatives
- Identify trends & patterns that can be used by leadership to make data driven decisions
- Cultivate a collaborative work environment by promoting teamwork and open communication within the data team and across departments. Engage with cross-functional teams to understand their needs and integrate their feedback into data projects, ensuring alignment with agency goals and enhancing the overall impact of data initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Some knowledge of management practices, typically gained by completing relevant training or management experience.
- Some experience managing a major program and supervising staff, typically gained from approximately one year of experience supervising staff to include defining responsibilities and expectations, assigning and reviewing work, conducting performance feedback, completing performance evaluations, and handling employee issues, corrective actions, and/or problem-solving procedures.
MQ Specialties:
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or similar project management certification is desired.
- Proven experience directly managing complex projects or programs is preferred.
- Familiarity with data analysis software and tools (e.g., SPSS, SQL, PowerBi).
- Experience in the public sector or knowledge of correctional systems is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and actionable manner.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
