Job Summary

This position starts on August 15, 2025.

Looking for talented faculty who want to create an impactful learning experience for our students! GCC is interested in those who embrace our mission to serve and have a passion to guide our students into a future of change and innovation.

Faculty member will instruct a diverse population of Administration of Justice Studies (AJS) and Law Enforcement Training Academy (LETA) students. This role involves teaching, offering career and academic guidance, oversees, and assessing students from various backgrounds, using traditional, hybrid, and online methods, following Maricopa (MCCCD) and Glendale Community College (GCC) policies. The role may also be involved in dual enrollment and the coordination of the Law Enforcement Training Academy (LETA) including requirements for AzPOST and HLC accreditation of the LETA program. Develop and enhance knowledge of subject matter taught and individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in the field; maintain office hours to assist and advise students; participate actively in department and college functions.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee and instruct students and/or police recruits from diverse backgrounds in classroom, lab, and/or online settings, using a variety of presentation techniques, in Administration of Justice and Law Enforcement Training programs.
  • Evaluate knowledge of subject matter taught and monitor students’ scholastic records; prepare and grade exams
  • Assist and respond to problems/requests from students during in-person office hours, virtual office hours and electronic communication
  • Serve as a liaison to various criminal justice agencies, public safety, law enforcement, and Arizona Peace Officer Training and Standards certification officials.
  • Research, develop, and implement AJS and LETA courses.
  • Participate in continuous assessment, evaluation and improvement of teaching and learning.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five years of occupational experience in the field to be taught OR
  • Three years of occupational experience in the field and a Bachelor’s degree or higher OR
  • A Master’s degree or higher in the teaching field OR
  • A Master’s degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credits in the teaching field OR
  • A Master’s degree or higher in any field with 24 upper division and/or graduate credits in the teaching field

Desired Qualifications

  • Five (5) or more years of occupational experience in the field of Administration of Justice or related field
  • Master’s Degree or higher in Administration of Justice or related field
  • Experience teaching higher education courses in Administration of Justice or related areas

Special Working Conditions

  • Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving
  • Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate’s own expense
  • Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations
  • May require numerous evenings or weekends
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
  • May be required to lift or carry up to #25 lbs
