The Darla Moore School of Business invites applications for an Assistant Director. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Business Operations, the Assistant Director of Finance controls the daily financial activities of DMSB funds (such as state, private, federal and sponsored) and manages the financial control of all DMSB academic centers, departments, programs, and other administrative units. Responsibilities include ensuring DMSB compliance with University, State and Federal rules and regulations. Represents DMSB on internal and external audits and directs the accounting staff in relations to audits of DMSB accounting and financial records.
Job Related Minimum Required Education And Experience
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 5 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with ten (10) or more years of related experience. Understanding and expertise of governmental accounting, fiscal policies and procedures as they relate to administrative and business practices of higher education. Knowledge of USC policies and procedures, state and Federal laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to business activities of DMSB. Fluency with all Microsoft Office programs and PeopleSoft, with knowledge of Blackbaud and Anaplan.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to plan, organize and direct complex financial, administrative, and support activities. Skillfulness to work accurately with detailed information and numbers. Knowledge of USC policies and procedures, state and federal rules and regulations. Familiarity with USC General Ledger system and financial reporting systems, student billing systems, scholarship and fellowship financial systems.
Excellent communication and organizational skills to ensure effective relationships with the internal staff of DMSB’s academic departments, numerous divisions and administrative units, and academic centers. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within DMSB and across all areas of USC.

Assists with the controlling of financial activities of DMSB, including funds sourced from State, Private, Federal and sponsored research funds. Evaluates and ensures intra-school compliance with State and Federal laws and regulations, and compliance with all DMSB internal budgetary goals, controls and objectives. Implements financial and budgetary initiatives to include developing procedures, training faculty and staff, implementing changes, and monitoring effectiveness. Coordinates technological changes and improvements to support budgetary and financial systems, to ensure continued control of all data and report files.
Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 30 Job Duty
Ensures accuracy of student financial data for DMSB for undergraduate, graduate and PhD programs. Directs student scholarship and fellowship financial process and programs for DMSB. Responsible for the enhancement and maintenance of a separate financial system for preparing and processing student financial data.
Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 15 Job Duty
Assists with the preparation and reports for financial plans, financial projections, budget variances, and feasibility studies for DMSB and USC administration requirements, monitors expenditures of academic departments, academic centers, academic programs, multiple administrative units, contracts, grants and leases. Budget and expenditure monitoring is required for all state and private business partnership foundations and applicable DMSB education foundation accounts maintained on a separate accounting software system. Responsible for payroll reconciliations and maintenance of payroll databases, processes and procedures. Coordinate collection of revenue for all project centers and monitor other revenue streams for collection.
