WHO WE ARE
The Office of Agricultural Water Policy (OAWP) works with agricultural producers, industry groups, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the university system, and the Florida water management districts to develop and implement Agricultural Best Management Practices (BMPs) addressing water quality and water conservation. Agricultural BMPs are practical, cost-effective actions that agricultural producers can take to conserve water and reduce the amount of pesticides, fertilizers, animal waste, and other pollutants entering our water resources.
WHAT WE DO
The FDACS Office of Agricultural Water Policy develops and helps implement BMPs; agricultural water quality and water supply policy and planning; administration of cost-share programs for the implementation of BMPs; BMP research and demonstrations; providing mobile irrigation lab services; and providing data and technical assistance to producers, stakeholders, and state agencies.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
As an Administrative Assistant, you will provide administrative and clerical support to the Contract and Grant Unit Supervisor and Team for the Office of Agricultural Water Policy.
As an Administrative Assistant, you will be expected to:
- Communicate with staff to collect necessary documentation and or information related to contractual agreements.
- Coordinating conference calls, and scheduling meetings.
- Data entry.
- Electronic file maintenance.
- Drafting agreements using templates.
- Drafting memorandums and other documents.
- Makes copies of correspondence and other printed material as needed.
- Create folders/notebook documents to organize information.
- Answer incoming phone calls as needed. Provides information to callers or routes calls as appropriate. Ensure positive customer services is provided to all visitors and customers.
- Assist with resolving complaints and questions from stakeholders including written, electronic and telephone communications. Perform other related duties as requested by the Contract and Grant Unit Supervisor

In carrying out the duties of this position, the incumbent is to be aware of and abide by the department’s Standards of Conduct, as well as any and all departmental and/or work unit rules, directives, policies, procedures, and/or general orders applicable to performing the duties of this position.

The BMP program benefits agricultural producers because it gives them management strategies, tools, and practices that will improve their water quality, conserve water use, and protect water resources. The program is designed to be technologically and economically feasible for producers, so staff will assist them in obtaining the necessary resources to implement BMPs. You will be a vital component in assisting agricultural producers become more nutrient and water efficient while maintaining or improving productivity levels. You will also indirectly impact the lives of Florida citizens by contributing to environmental stewardship, enhancing water quality, and aiding with water conservation.

- Ability to interpret and, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures; Skills in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Teams, MS PowerPoint, MS Publisher and Adobe Pro;
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of administrative experience.
A master's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for the required experience.
Administrative or clerical experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
An equivalent combination of education and experience which equals five (5) years can substitute for the above requirements.
Requires possession of a valid Driver License.
PAY
Hourly pay rate of $25.00 per hour with an expectation of 40 hours a week.
