This position operates under the general supervision of CFI’s Support for Careers Program Director, providing critical support to individuals with disabilities in their pursuit of obtaining and maintaining employment. The role will focus on benefits planning and supporting clients by facilitating career exploration, job search, development, and job accommodations.
Sample Duties:
- Provide virtual work incentive/benefits counseling to individuals across the state. This includes writing reports, presenting information to clients and other stakeholders so that informed decisions can be made about employment.
- Assist clients in job exploration through career counseling, job shadowing, mock interviews, interest inventories, resume writing, and other strategies identified.
- Work with local businesses to advocate for hiring clients with disabilities and promote the positive impact hiring clients with disabilities.
- Work with program director to ensure employment barriers and other issues related to successful employment are addressed.
- Perform on and off-site job coaching.
- Maintain participant file.
- Attend all required participant team, educational, and vocational meetings.
- Provide transportation for participants as needed.
- Provide crisis management in needed situations.
- Attend classes and successfully test to receive the Work Incentive Practitioner Certification.

Requirements:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in a human-service related field. Must work to obtain a Work Incentive Practitioner Certification. Minimum of two years’ direct client service experience preferred. Experience with technology; must be proficient in time management. Must be able to pass a background check and complete all professional development standards required by the State of Iowa to be employed in a Community Rehabilitation Provider setting within required timelines.
