The Sustainability Manager will support the development, implementation, promotion, and monitoring of environmental strategies and goals for Palmetto Goodwill's recycling program to reduce the environmental impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops and establishes strong business relationships with recycling vendors and other business accounts.
- Provides and develops energy conservation programs to manage energy/utility consumption within the organization.
- Identifies trends and opportunities for organizational improvement by collecting and analyzing data on sustainability initiatives with key internal stakeholders.
- Ensures successful delivery of recycling and solid waste operations, including the receiving, processing, and marketing of all recyclables.
- Ensures that all recyclables are disposed of in a responsible manner.
- Assesses, evaluates, establishes, and develops new business opportunities. Ensures projects meet strategic goals.
- Maintains an up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical developments that affect target markets.
- Researches and develops a list of potential salvage/recycling vendors while exploring new markets and opportunities.
- Develops regular updates, presentations, and reports related to all recycling initiatives.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, available to open and/or close assigned retail locations as required, make bank deposits, and secure buildings to ensure the success of the operation.
- Must be able to respond to emergencies at any time as needed.
Performs other job-related tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Compliance, Environmental Policy, Economics, or related field.
- Sound understanding of environmental, economic, social, and governance issues.
- Strong research skills and ability to analyze, interpret data, and create reports.
- Superior interpersonal skills and relationship-building abilities while working independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions using tact, courtesy, and cooperativeness.
- Exceptional decision-making skills with a strategic and objective approach.
- Ability to exercise discretion while managing confidential information.
- Experience with general office equipment and computers, including Microsoft Office programs, data-based programs, and the internet.
