This position is located at MCCS MIRAMAR. Candidates selected for this position will serve as a Recreation Assistant for the Information, Tickets, & Tours Department.
Major Duties
Incumbent is assigned to Information Tickets and Tours (ITT) Office and reports directly to the ITT Manager. Incumbent will perform work as directed from ITT Manager or assigned shift supervisor. Duties include selling tickets to local tourist attractions and special events, theme parks, movies, dinner shows, sporting events, and harbor cruises. Provides patrons with information and advice about local tourist activities and attractions in the immediate area. Engages patrons in a friendly and hospitable manner and seeks opportunities to exceed their expectations.
Responsible for operating a cash register, receiving payments, and making change. Must handle cash and ticket inventory with accuracy. Assists in maintaining routine sales records, reconciles accounts, and performs daily clerical work. May oversee sale of retail items associated with other MCCS activities.
May be required to perform light custodial and/or general maintenance duties as needed to maintain the facility. Ensures adherence to safety rules and regulations. This position may be required to work at other Semper Fit work locations as needed based on business needs. Collateral Semper Fit work locations include but are not limited to the; 50M Pool, Golf Course, Party/Adventure Recreational Center (PARC), Bob Hope Theater, Auto Skills, and Semper Fit Gyms. Cross training will be provided accordingly. Hours for this position vary and each work location and have various shifts to include nights, weekends, and holidays. Shift differential pay will be appropriately applied.

Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required. One year experience in a customer service role or retail sales experience. Ability to communicate efficiently orally and in writing. Professional appearance and demeanor. Must have knowledge of basic mathematics, basic computer knowledge, and cash handling. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.
