Youth Fellowship Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Youth Fellowship Director, the Site Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the management and development of the Youth Fellowship Mentoring Program. He/She is responsible for assisting with the management of the program by the stated mission, goals, and policies established by the administrative staff. This position requires an understanding of and a commitment to the total effort of the YMCA and the Christian principles upon which it is founded. The individual must be a self-starter, possess a desire to learn, follow directions and procedures, and initiate feasible and creative solutions without compromising the quality of the program when challenges arise.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist the Youth Fellowship Director for the Mentoring Program.
- Assist with the development and implementation of a comprehensive and intentional Youth Fellowship program that promotes safety, relationships, skill development, character development, group control, and fun memories.
- Assist with the recruitment, training, supervising, and evaluating approximately 50+ volunteers/mentors.
- Assist with the recruitment of children in the community to participate in the program.
- Aids in the development of the overall community by actively engaging the residents in the community to assist with the mentoring program.
- Responsible for constructing 20-30 Mentoring Program folders on a daily basis.
- Develops and maintains strong positive relationships with participants, parents, mentors, community members, pastors and partnering church members.
- Assists in planning for and attends community celebrations, special events, and field trips.
- Implements and leads devotional and character-building material and ensures that the Christian mission is incorporated into the program.
- Maintains necessary tracking and attendance records for all students in Youth Fellowship in accordance with Association standards.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization of all office, storage, and program areas.
- Maintains current and required certifications and records for staff according to the YMCA of the Triangle requirements.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED required with 2 years of experience working with youth preferred.
- Previous experience in program development, personal development and supervision of staff.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Strong programming, communication, public speaking, and problem-solving skills.
- Must have a strong background in group control, leading activities, planning and organization.
- Strong knowledge of how youth programs are organized and implemented.
- Ability to work with and motivate parents, staff, and children.
- Ability to assist in the management of the facility, equipment, and staff.
- Must obtain certifications through the YMCA in Basic Life Support/First Aid and Emergency Oxygen within first 30 days of hire.
- Multi-lingual desired but not required.
