We are looking for dedicated, caring and compassionate people to work in our Residential/Outpatient Treatment Facilities and Community Programs.
Recreational Coordinator
Schedule per week:
- Sunday and Wednesdays OFF
- Monday 8:00 am to 4:00pm
- Tuesday 12:00pm to 8:00pm
- Thursday 12:00pm to 8:00pm
- Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm
- Saturday 8:00am to 4:00pm

General Summary
Recreation Coordinator’s responsibilities include planning, creating and implementing a recreational program to meet the physical, social, emotional, spiritual and cognitive needs of the male and female clients in residential treatment for substance use disorders. The role requires a creative, enthusiastic, energetic, and caring individual with activity experience, time management, and organizational skills.
Position Specific Duties and Responsibilities
The Recreation Coordinator develops and promotes recreational programs including, but not limited to, music, dance, arts and crafts, cultural presentations, nature study, social recreation, games and trips.
The Recreation Coordinator will be responsible to:
- Facilitate small group and large group activities
- Conduct facility-based and community activities
- Organize physical exercise or other physical activities
- Plan intellectual activities
- Encourage social interaction
- Adapt recreation programs considering clients' age, sex, physical and mental capabilities, interests, and cultural and social background
- Develop and implement procedures for clients to sign up for desired recreation programs in the community
- Schedule recreational activities in the community and coordinate transportation
- Coordinate recreational activities around scheduled clinical services
- Develop and nurture community relationships to encourage client integration
- Handle documentation and maintain records of scheduled activities
- Develop goals and objectives for each recreational activity
- Organize and implement the activity calendar one month in advance, posting it by the 1st of each month with descriptions, dates, and times
- Maintain an outgoing and positive attitude
- Protect the confidentiality of client information
- Meet recreational requirements based on licensing requirements
- Keep records of all scheduled activities in the Electronic Health Records System (EHR)
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in recreation administration, physical education, social work, psychology, or a closely related field, with six (6) months experience in recreation, or actively pursuing CADC certification or an equivalent combination of education or experience. Must have a car and a NJ driver's license with good driving history. Innovative, detail-oriented, and flexible with the ability to work independently. Must be computer literate and possess typing skills.
