As a Teacher Work Experience Coordinator, you will create pathways to meaningful employment for Transition Plus students by providing them with effective experiences and resources to gain the skills and abilities needed to secure competitive, integrated employment in their chosen field.

A. Create, manage, and supervise paid and unpaid work sites in school & in community

  • Organize students for each work site (-on going)
  • Ensure training agreements are completed & filed
  • Serve as liaison with employer
  • Supervise job coaches
  • Complete site visit and reports
  • Ensure performance profiles are completed
  • Complete work site bus request as needed
  • Submit grades for students
  • Serve as the site contact for all issues/ parties
  • Monitor student progress & maintain files

B. Assist students with finding suitable paid, competitive, integrated, employment

  • Assist students with resume creation/ updates
  • Organize job search efforts, including job fairs
  • Assist with interview preparation
  • Assist with transportation arrangements
  • Connect with other agencies as appropriate in job search

C. Support Classroom teachers

  • Arrange guest speakers
  • Arrange community trips to tour/ visit employers
  • Attend team meetings as needed
  • Attend occasional IEP meetings as requested
  • Serve as a resource for Vocational Training options

D. Other Work-Based Learning duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and excellent time management skills. In addition, knowledge of the requirements of a sound Work-Based Learning program and a command of child labor laws is essential.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university.
  • A valid Work Experience Handicap Coordinator License or Work Based Learning License; or proof of pending approved licensure.
  • Prior successful experience student teaching or teaching in an urban, multicultural education setting.
  • Demonstrated continued professional development through course work, research, peer collaboration and/or job-embedded staff development.
  • Master's or PhD preferred.
  • Restorative Justice practices model knowledge preferred
  • Training and knowledge of project-based learning model preferred.

Final candidates may be invited to interview with a committee. Final appointment to this position will be contingent upon passing a criminal background check.
