Job Summary:
The Floor Technician is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the appearance of floors in various facilities. This includes cleaning, stripping, waxing, and polishing a variety of flooring types. The Floor Technician will ensure a safe, clean, and aesthetically pleasing environment for all building occupants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Floor Maintenance: Perform routine cleaning, scrubbing, buffing, and waxing of floors to maintain high standards of cleanliness and shine.
- Surface Preparation: Strip and prepare floors for refinishing; apply sealers and finish products as required.
- Equipment Operation: Operate floor care equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, and extractors safely and effectively.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment; report needs to the supervisor.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols while using cleaning chemicals and operating machinery.
- Inspection and Reporting: Inspect floors regularly for damages or areas needing repair and report findings to management.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other facilities staff to coordinate cleaning schedules and respond to special requests.
- Training: Assist in training new staff on floor care techniques and equipment usage.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in floor maintenance or custodial services is a plus.
- Skills:
- Knowledge of various floor types and appropriate cleaning methods.
- Ability to operate floor cleaning equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to perform physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
Work Environment:
- Work is performed in various settings including commercial buildings, schools, or healthcare facilities.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment noise; adherence to safety protocols is essential.
