SUMMARY
The Early Childhood Teacher is responsible for the academic, social-emotional growth and spiritual development of all children in their care, develops partnerships with parents and caregivers to engage and encourage participation in student learning. The Teacher is also responsible for working collaboratively with other members of their team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides a developmentally appropriate classroom environment that reflects the children’s learning and growth.
- Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
- Develops schemes of work, lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with established procedures.
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
- Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
- Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
- Provide appropriate feedback on work.
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching techniques.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of student’s progress and development.
- Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations.
- Prepare required reports on students and activities.
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
- Prepare classroom for class activities.
- Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
- Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development.
- Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests and assignments.
- Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
- Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information from parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
- Participate in professional development and activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
- Oklahoma State certification in teaching in appropriate subject area.
- Speaks English at an idiomatic level.
- Good communication, problem solving, and priority setting skills as well as maintaining an overall positive and professional attitude /disposition.
- Ability to effectively plan, organize and implement educational activities.
- Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology.

Therefore, each employee must at all times be emotionally stable and able to function effectively with children, adolescents and adults who may have mental or behavioral health problems. The staff must be able to demonstrate appropriate behavior, expression of emotions, as well as role modeling.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, crawling, stooping, walking, and the ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and in case of emergency a 40-pound child;
- Manual dexterity with the use of hands, fingers to feel objects, tools, and controls;
- Sighted with color, peripheral, near, and far vision;
- Hearing and speaking;
- Excellent English communication skills.
