GENERAL SUMMARY:
Are you a night owl with a passion for keeping things running smoothly? Bennett College is looking for a dedicated Part-Time General Maintenance Technician 1 to be an integral part of our team. In this role, you will work exclusively during nights and weekends, ensuring the safety, functionality, and aesthetics of our campus facilities. You will collaborate with a small, close-knit team of 2-4 professionals, working together to maintain our beautiful campus. Please note that hours may vary based on the needs of the college.
The Part-Time General Maintenance 1 Worker will paint, repair flooring, and work on plumbing, electrical, and air-conditioning and heating systems in addition to other general maintenance tasks under the supervision of General Maintenance 2 personnel. In the event of an emergency, he/she may be called to support necessary tasks in association with that emergency.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Performs routine maintenance tasks, repairs, and installations to keep campus facilities in optimal condition. This includes but is not limited to minor plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting and plastering and carpentry work.
- Assembles furniture and assists with office relocation.
- Performs tasks such as but not limited to changing light bulbs, installing paper dispenser units, changing filters, changing locks on doors, minor decorative maintenance and other tasks not requiring a licensed skilled trades person or journeyman.
- Identifies and corrects unsafe working conditions with management oversight.
- Complies with all College safety risk management policies and procedures.
- Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
- Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- May perform snow removal and other grounds keeping activities.
- May be required to assist with special events.
- May drive a cart or other vehicle.
- Assists skilled trade workers in one or more areas performing specific or standard duties to learn new skills as required for advancement and certification.
- May be required to utilize basic cleaning and other chemicals.
- Be available during nights and weekends to respond to emergency maintenance calls and provide quick and effective solutions to unexpected issues.
- Prioritize the safety of our students, faculty, and staff by promptly addressing any maintenance or repair issues that could pose a hazard.
- Work closely with a small team of maintenance professionals, sharing knowledge, and expertise to efficiently complete tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory to ensure efficient resource management.
- Contribute to maintaining the aesthetic appeal of our campus by assisting with landscaping, painting, and other projects as needed.
- Perform regular inspections and maintenance of equipment and tools to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred.
- 2 or more years of related experience.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- Willingness to work nights and weekends, with flexibility in hours.
Preferred:
- 3 or more years’ experience of general facilities maintenance.
