MAJOR PURPOSE

The OTC Sales Person will assist in the development and execution of Mills & Nebraska’s sales strategies to support business goals and objectives while supporting the company’s mission, vision, and values.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet walk-in customers in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ascertain needs and assist customers with their selection of materials.
  • Takes incoming sales orders from telephone calls, emails, and walk-in will-call customers; complete order documentation.
  • Contact current customers via phone, email, personal visit, to generate orders for delivery on scheduled delivery routes and to inform customers of specials and sales promotions.
  • Follow-up by email or telephone with customers regarding back-ordered materials, delivery dates, job quotes, etc.
  • Assist in the collection of payment from customers.
  • Performs customer service function by recommending substitute or other merchandise better suited to the customer’s needs and requirements.
  • As needed, assist in creating material schedules with customers.
  • Use sound professional judgment while representing the Company.
  • Increases sales volume by contacting potential customers to generate new business.
  • Prepares job order quotations based upon customer requests and information under guidelines established by the Inside Sales Manager.

AUTHORITY:

  • The OTC Sales Person acts within company policies and applicable federal, state, and local legislation to do whatever is necessary and make any decisions required to carry out effectively the strategic and operational goals of Mills & Nebraska. However, without the approval of the Owner may not:
  • Commit the company to any capital expenditure, dispose of any company asset, sign any lease, contract or agreement.
  • Change or revise established policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Engage personally in outside business that could conflict with the company’s interests.
  • Enter into a relationship with any employee, which may have, or appear to have, an adverse effect upon his/her ability to carry out responsibilities of the job.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

  • Good working knowledge of construction as related to architectural products, doors, door products, and related codes and requirements. Knowledge of field installation and applications extremely helpful.
  • Ability to apply exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Possess strong communication, presentation, and writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Computer proficiency, with ability to work in MS Office based programs to include email
  • Through training learn sales software – ProTech and Navision and use with proficiency

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • This position requires a minimum of 1-3 years of like/similar experience preferably supporting a manufacturing, field application or production capacity.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to continuously see. Must be able to frequently stand, walk, view computer monitors, give & receive oral communication, bend, squat, reach above shoulder level, and discern color. Must be able to occasionally sit, drive, type, and make fine discriminations in sound.
  • Must be able to regularly lift/carry up to 20 lbs.; occasionally lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to do repetitive simple grasping, fine manipulation, and pushing & pulling on a frequent basis.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and drive to and from work locations.
  • Must be able to travel as required for company business.
  • As needed work a varied schedule that could include nights, weekends, and holidays.

STAFF/BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The OTC Sales Person will not have direct reports.

IMPACT OF DECISIONS

  • Failure to ensure compliance with all operational objectives and procedures concerning the securing of business continuity for the Company could result in significant financial loss to the company.
  • Failure to properly analyze business needs and trends and interpret and take action necessary to correct problems and issues will have adverse impact on the Company’s profitability.

WORK RELATIONSHIPS

The OCT Sales Person works with all levels of management, including owners, managers, and supervisors within the Company. Additionally, positive professional contact with external clients is required to provide for smooth flow of information and materials regarding receipt and delivery of products and distribution services.
