Safety Specialist

The primary responsibilities of the Safety Specialist shall be to manage and administer project safety functions as outlined within the company safety program for OSHA compliance and providing support and assistance to the Safety team.

Position Responsibilities

• Perform random safety audits of project sites.
• Data entry of safety observations made during audits. Observations to include positive and negative findings.
• Attend safety training as provided by the employer
• Assist the VP of Safety & Compliance with compiling appropriate safety documentation as may be needed for the project.
• Assist in accident investigations where needed
• Assist in IOSHA/OSHA inspections where needed
• Assist in safety pre-planning activities as may be needed between the Superintendent and subcontractors.
• Assist in the problem-solving process to address safety issues at the job site
• Assist in the representation of the Meyer Najem safety program to prospective customers and subcontractors.
• Provide back-up support to the VP of Safety & Compliance when needed.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• At least a High School diploma or GED required
• Five years of construction safety experience
• Completion of OSHA 510 (30-Hour OSHA Construction Training)
• Completion of OSHA 500 and 502 recommended
• Technical understanding of the CFR 1926 and 1910 OSHA standard manuals
  
  

Physical Requirements Of The Job

• Ability to climb stairs and ladders without assistance
• Ability to walk for long periods of time unaided
• Ability to lift at least 30 pounds without assistance
