Beverage Manager (Assistant)

We are currently seeking a dedicated, career-driven Assistant Beverage Manager to join our talented food & beverage team in delivering extraordinary experiences to our members.
Position Summary:
This position acts as the assistant night/beverage manager for the Club. Responsibilities include providing efficient service of beverage operations throughout the facility, assisting all beverage outlets, a la carte dining rooms and numerous private suites. This position will oversee the beverage staff and be responsible for selection of products, menu design and content, training and controls while producing a quality product, which consistently exceeds member expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of mixing popular drinks, standards and proportions.
- Familiar with brand variety and pricing of liquor/wine/beer as well as proper storage procedures.
- Responsible for elevating beverage pricing in the Club.
- Establish and monitor controls to minimize waste and theft in beverage department.
- Coordinate packing of orders for off premise events and private parties in the Club. Supervise delivery of items to the event.
- Check inventory upon return from functions and return to appropriate storage areas.
- Every month and as requested, take inventory to maintain par levels of liquor at bars; accurately calculate the month end
inventory at bars and in wine room.
- Conduct tours of the wine room and handle special events that are booked in this room.
- Coordinate and provide training for employees to help enhance member’s experience.
- Coordinate Special Events in regards to beer and cocktails.
- Attend educational programs related to beer, cocktails and beverage service.
- Continuing education in the CMAA program.
- Leader of beer committee as well as assisting other society/committees within Club with planning/coordinating events.
- Update beer and cocktail menus accordingly. Utilizing the menu document on Windows, update inventory and prices on a weekly
basis and see that all new information is added to the beer and cocktail menus.
- Supervisor and schedule all bartenders and become familiar with job description.
- Acts as security manager to ensure the safety of the building is maintained as well as preventing unauthorized/undesirable
persons from entering the building. Maintain security checks at the employee entrance.
- Coordinate and communicate daily with the Reservations Departments and other departments as needed.
- Learn Club rules/by laws and enforce accordingly with members/guests.
- Understand the Collective Bargaining Agreement and act accordingly.
- Observe and enforce all grooming and personal hygiene standards and rules of conduct, policies, and procedures established for
Duquesne Club employees.
- Responsible for assisting the Wine Steward as needed including in their absence.
- May be required to perform any related duty as requested that is not listed within this job description.
Requirements:
- A strong fundamental knowledge of liquor, beer and spirits, including proper procedures for opening/handling of beverage
product and inventorying product.
- Familiar with state liquor laws.
- Self-motivated and able to lead a team successfully.
- Computer knowledge including POS systems, Microsoft word, excel, etc.
- Ability to read, write and verbally communicate effectively and professionally.
- Ability to actively listen to others and respond to requests in a professional, effective and efficient manner.
- Physical ability to stand/walk for long periods of time, sometimes encompassing the entire shift, as well as bend, stoop, and reach.
- Physical ability to lift cases of beverages (25-30 pounds) at least once a day, occasionally more frequently.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to relate to all levels of management/members.
- Sufficient memory retention to recall members’ preferences and guests’ names.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience.
Educational Requirements Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree
Ramp Certified
Valid PA Driver’s License
