Currently we have a Transportation Manager role open. This position manages the logistics/transportation group and shipping operations for all parts, wholesale shipping activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Select carriers, negotiate and manage all carrier agreements for the movement of goods.
- Manage the Machine Shipping/Transportation groups in an efficient manner including maintaining a workforce to maximize the capabilities to meet customer demand.
- Develop and implement and achieve action plans that support Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) objectives.
- Develop and achieve departmental budgets as well as providing domestic and international transportation cost forecast.
- Assure that all carrier facilities adhere to all Federal, State, and Maritime regulations as they apply to Transportation.
- Provides all technical information such as detailed load plans, size/weight restrictions, special permit requirements, competitive routings/rates etc., to all internal departments as well as Distribution/End User.
- Provide direct assistance in export packaging and machine loading materials. Manage all aspects of machine shipping as to customer service requirements, proper equipment and machine loading procedures.
- Maintain key liaison with Transportation vendors (Port Authorities, Carrier/Steamship lines/Agencies).
- Provide Engineering and Marketing with Federal and State regulations covering size and weight restrictions as required.
- Effectively communicate with management and distributors on transportation and shipping matters.
- Maintain and secure transportation requirements to meet the monthly ship schedule to meet customer’s needs.
- Manages department in a manner that fully supports all Safety and Lean Systems initiatives requirements.
General Qualifications:
- 4 year college degree, preferred
- Eight years experience in Logistics and Transportation Management and Supervision, both domestic and international
- CLTD Certification preferred
- Customs Broker License preferred
