Here at the Chico Area Recreation and Park District (CARD), we believe in the importance of providing our community with indoor and outdoor facilities to host private events. CARD has been providing these opportunities and positive experiences in Chico for more than 70+ years. And that's where this position comes in!
The Event attendant plays a key role in ensuring customer satisfaction during events held at CARD parks and facilities. Traditionally, the Event Attendant performs a wide variety of duties related to customer service, custodial, and maintenance to ensure our facilities are open, ready for use, and maintained throughout the event.
This flexible part-time job works well for the working professional, a college student, or someone wanting to put a little excitement in their life on the weekends. *Please note, this position is NOT for an event planner.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: May include, but are not limited to, the following:
Frequent performance of moderate manual labor; frequent sitting, walking, standing for long periods of time; occasional bending, twisting, kneeling or squatting. Frequent lifting up to 25 pounds; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Constant use of overall vision. Frequent grasping, holding, and reaching. Frequent hearing and talking in person; occasionally by phone. Frequent public and co-worker contact; occasional working alone. Frequent exposure to loud noises and large groups of people.
Candidates that successfully progress through the interview process will receive a job offer contingent on the passing of a physical and live scan background check.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: May include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide quality customer service; maintain a professional demeanor, and have positive communication and interactions with co-workers, vendors, and the public.
- Respond to facility user needs, complaints, concerns, inquiries, and emergencies in a professional and safe manner in accordance with District rules and regulations.
- Open and close facilities for activities and events; prepare facilities for event use including set-up and take down of chairs, tables, and equipment; ensure premises are vacated, cleaned, alarms are activated, and all doors are secured and locked.
- Monitoring activities which include continually walking around the facility to ensure room capacity adherence/exercise crowd control; observing equipment for defects; observing participants for misuse of District equipment, inappropriate conduct, or non-compliance with District rules and regulations.
- Perform custodial and maintenance duties at facilities including, but not limited to, cleaning bathrooms, emptying garbage, sweeping debris, etc.
- Survey District facilities for potential problems and hazardous conditions (i.e. non-functioning light bulbs, vandalism, etc.) and report it to the supervisor.
- Record and report accidents, injuries, and emergency situations to the supervisor.
- Ability to respond appropriately to facility users within the context of District rules and regulations while maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with the public, co-workers, and vendors.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with co-workers and the public.
- Ability to identify and analyze potential problems, situations, and needs; and carry out solutions appropriately and quickly.
- Ability to work irregular hours as required, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends with varying schedules.
- May be required to possess a valid California Driver License and be insurable on the District’s vehicle liability policy.
