Primary Position Purpose:
This position sources for and procures materials, products, supplies or services to support the assigned commodity requirements of the enterprise while managing relationships with suppliers. Provides best course of action solutions for problem resolution on a daily basis.
Position Functions:
- Manage source selection and development through a team process including the evaluation of cost, quality, and service/manufacturing systems
- Develop and manage internal and external supplier/customer relationships, including strategic alliances where appropriate
- Lead and/or participate on simultaneous stakeholder teams
- Manage the RF(x) processes which include Request for Information, Request for Proposal, and Request for Quote
- Create reports, analyze data, draw conclusions, and execute appropriate actions in response to data
- Evaluate the cost-effectiveness of proposals, procure goods and services, and qualify processes to assure the product meets specifications
- Develop and execute supply management strategies to manage cost, quality, and continuous improvement
- Develop material control and procurement objectives including logistics
- Act as a primary communications link between tactical and strategic purchasing functions and business units; participate in team activities
- Act as the primary contact to negotiate and execute contracts/agreements with suppliers that minimize Total Cost Ownership (TCO), improve quality, minimize supply risk and assure on-time delivery
- Collaborate in-person with all levels of the organization to harness collective intelligence of the workforce.
- Attend all in-person meetings and trainings on recent developments, goals, and objectives. Participate in such discussions by offering input and advice.
- Regularly engage remotely and in-person with customers and potential customers to establish rapport, open communication, and expectations.
What We’re Looking For:
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, engineering, or business related curriculum preferred or equivalent experience
- Advanced degree and/or CPSM (or equivalent) preferred
Experience
- 1-3 years of experience
- Transportation, Logistics, and/or Tech experience a plus
Skills & Abilities
- Adept at assessing organizational dynamics and managing change
- Works quickly and efficiently
- Able to test solutions, learn, and iterate quickly
- Proactive and pragmatic problem solver
- Communicates effectively across multiple mediums
- Understands the 7-step sourcing process
- Contract knowledge
- Advanced Excel Skill, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to create reports and analyze data
- Strong understanding of negotiation strategies and risk management
