RN Float Pool Progressive Care, West Penn Hospital

West Penn Hospital’s Float Pool consists of highly trained expert RN’s who cover all areas of their specialty and clinical expertise. We receive a variety of patients with varying acuity levels, including units E8-Med/Obs/Tele, E7-PCU/Surgical Oncology, T9-PCU, and other variable acuity units. Patients may include those with heart failure, digestive disorders, severe sepsis, oncology, and pulmonary edema.

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Registered Nurse assesses human responses and plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for individuals or families. The Registered Nurse is fully responsible for all actions as a licensed nurse and is accountable to patients for the quality of care delivered.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

• 2 years acute care nursing experience required.
• Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
• CPR – American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association preferred
• NIH Certification preferred
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates clinical assessment skills and care planning skills.
• Provides safe and effective care for the age population served according to regulatory requirements.
• Professionally directs and manages the activities of the patient care delivery by the team members.
• Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team for the plan of care from admission through discharge.
• Assesses learning needs of patient and family and provides education based on age, culture, and willingness to learn.
