Seeking an Administrative Assistant to join the team at River Street School - Windsor, CT
Position Purpose
Provides a wide variety of complex and confidential administrative and secretarial support, communicating information and assisting and ensuring compliance with department/program policies and procedures.
Essential Job Functions
- Composes documents and correspondence for the purpose of requesting or providing information, confirming events, etc.
- Prepares copies and distributes notices, memoranda or other correspondence for the purpose of informing employees, students, parents, and others regarding activities, events or other work-related matters.
- Attends meetings as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
- Assists in maintaining the calendar for the program for the purpose of coordinating the scheduling of work-related appointments, activities, meetings, etc.
- Assists in planning and scheduling events and activities.
- Assists in maintaining documents, confidential files and records for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference for compliance.
- Answers telephone calls, and provides information and assistance to callers.
- Serves as liaison with outside organizations.
- Monitors office supply needs.
- Acts as a liaison for IT, office equipment and facility needs.
- Coordinates and manages confidential students' Individualized Education Plans and related paperwork.

Equipment
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, copy machines, fax machines, and telephones.

- Ability to describe problems, verbally and in writing, to supervisor as required.

- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or verbal form.
- Ability to use personal computers and software applications, including Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to problem solve job-related issues.

- Ability to process paperwork accurately and in a timely manner according to standardized procedures.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of office management procedures.

- Works in standard office and school building environments.
Qualification Profile
- High school diploma or equivalent required, Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 2 years previous office experience preferred.
- Bilingual preferred.
