For over 100 years, Maguire Iron has been an industry leader in the fabrication, construction, and maintenance of water storage tanks and elevated water towers. The Sr. Accountant must be able to perform general accounting functions and certain tax compliance including but not limited to general/sub-ledger accounting, sales/use tax compliance, bank reconciliations, billing, cash applications, project costing, and other accounting related processes. Additionally, the position is responsible for supporting system implementation consisting of defining requirements and testing of GL, AR, Project costing, reconciliations from the subledger to the general ledger, preparation of periodic reports including product line P&L summaries, direct job cost analysis, audit reports, internal control and other quarterly analytical supports.

Essential Functions
- Period end closing and General Ledger/Sub-Ledger postings and reconciliations – Responsible for all GL transactions, including reconciliation of AR/AP to subledger, project/job costing, creating or setting up recurring journals, reconciling prepaid accounts between balance sheets and P&Ls, reconciliation of work in process (WIP) and various accrual entries (payroll, commission, etc.), along with generating year end 1099s or other required compliance certificates
- Responsible for monthly bank reconciliations
- Responsible for daily/weekly ACH, cash applications and deposits, billings/invoicing
- Responsible for timely and accurate filings of contractor licenses
- Compliance filings – responsible for periodic sales/use tax, unemployment tax, state tax recoveries and other required compliance filings
- Billing and Accounts Receivable functions, including:
- Reporting – responsible for generating and reporting income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement, in conjunction with the VP of Finance
- Internal Controls – Work with VP of Finance to safeguard company assets and perform random audits on company operations
Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with 5 years prior accounting experience in a business setting required.
- Knowledge of account procedures, GAAP concepts and principles, including control compliance.
- Possess strong analytical abilities and problem-solving capabilities.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills, strong administrative skills, the ability to multi-task, and knowledge of systems and PC skills (INFOR, Microsoft Dynamics/Great Plains, MS CRM, Salesforce.com, Microsoft Office, etc.)
- Must have professional knowledge of accounting procedures, concepts and principles, strong analytical abilities, and creative problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong communications and administrative skills with ability to multi-task.
- Must be able to use computers and related programs (Infor ERP, Excel, and Word) and understand system’s abilities and functionality. Strong Excel capabilities preferred.
- Majority of the time is spent in an office environment.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
