Location of Position
This position is located in our NYC, Buffalo, or Wappinger Falls office locations with a commitment to a minimum of 2 in-office days per week.

- The range for this position is {$148,750 - $201,250} plus an annual performance-based bonus

Position Summary
The VP of Business Development will be responsible for PV solar energy and solar + battery storage project origination, new market analysis, channel partner development and engagement, quarterly and annual reporting, pipeline management, and management of new deals into exclusivity. This position is expected to be current with federal, state, and utility solar policies in multiple markets, and have experience originating opportunities and managing the valuation process and communications to the point of exclusivity. This position will require travel.
Core Responsibilities
- Originates new Solar and Storage asset acquisition opportunities and partnerships consistent with CleanCapital’s strategic goals
- Vets, triages, presents, & leads internal processes on outbound and inbound opportunities
- Consistently follows up with new and ongoing opportunities: both assigned and self-originated
- Leads and manages sales cycle from point of origination through to exclusivity
- Drafts regular reports measuring YTD success for the origination team
- Builds and maintains a sales pipeline including data input and tracking and reporting in CRM
- Leads the execution of the outbound marketing including partnerships, social media, events, promotions, public relations, and community development with the support of the marketing team and business development associate
- Tracks key industry developments, and apply them to the company’s origination strategy
- Collaborates across multiple verticals in order to ensure best work product and practices
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
Technical Skills and Experience
- 6 years+ of direct Business Development experience
- Renewable energy experience required with substantial experience in solar and distributed generation, commercial and industrial and small-scale utility business development
- Intermediate/Advanced experience in utilizing all sales and marketing tools including B2B digital marketing, drip campaigns, channel partnerships, and networking
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel to support internal reporting, outreach & data analysis
- Proven experience cold calling with diligent follow up
- Proven experience managing a sales cycle to close
- Experience with Salesforce strongly preferred
