Laboratory Information System Manager

Job Summary

Baptist Medical Center is excited to be hiring for a Laboratory Information System Manager for the Baptist Laboratory System. As the Laboratory Information System Manager (LIS) at Baptist, you play a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of laboratory services by managing the software systems that support lab workflows. You will oversee configuration, upgrading, maintenance, and optimization of LIS software, ensuring seamless integration with laboratory automated workflows and regulatory compliance. Data Management will be a key component of daily functions, ensuring data entry and reporting of lab results are streamlined and aligned with data security and privacy regulations, while also monitoring system backups and ensuring the availability of historical lab data for analysis and auditing.

This LIS manager requires technical expertise, leadership, and excellent communication skills to manage people and projects and will be a support for the system goals. You will oversee all LIS activities across the entire Baptist Health laboratory system and are expected to organize LIS resources to ensure each site is visited regularly to provide staff training and support as needed and also to assess quality assurance at each site to prevent errors and align with regulatory standards. Successful candidates will possess exceptional communication, project management, and relationship-building skills, as the core of the role involves uniting laboratory, information services (IS), information technology (IT), clinical information (CI), as well as vendors to ensure seamless collaboration and support.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Supervising, managing, designing, reviewing, validating, and supporting all areas of the laboratory.
• Managing all projects while coordinating testing with the System and vendors.
• Analyzing and instructing others and maintaining system upgrades.
• Training medical technologists for minor troubleshooting of all lab systems, instruments, printers, and scanners, and participating in the development of new workflows and policies.
• Utilizing LEAN skills to improve unit efficiency.
• Working collaboratively with IS staff and providing go-live support.
• Providing after-hours support and on-call support as necessary.
• Training and supervising the Lab IS coordinator and providing joint coverage for the Systemtices.
• Epic proficiency/certification highly preferred

A Clinical Laboratory Technologist SUPERVISOR license within the State of Florida is required.

• American Society for Clinical Pathology Required
• Licensed Medical Technologist Required Or
• Licensed Clinical Laboratory Supervisor Required Or

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of LIS Management
• Epic proficiency/certification highly preferred (Epic Beaker)
• Data Innovation LIS experience preferred
• Soft LIS experience preferred
• Expertise with CAP Regulations
• Project management experience
• Previous laboratory bench experience preferred
