GSCU has an opportunity available for a senior level Credit Resolution Specialist III. This position is primarily responsible for performing collection activities associated with serious delinquent member accounts and loans that are involved in bankruptcy or legal proceedings.

General expected job duties for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides friendly and professional customer service to all members and credit union employees alike.
  • Contacts delinquent borrowers by phone, email, and text message.
  • Manage assigned loan queues at all stages of delinquency through to payoff, foreclosure, short sale, deed in lieu or charge off in accordance with state and federal regulations and collections procedures.
  • Elevates issues that may result in foreclosure or repossession when necessary.
  • Recommends accounts for charge-offs, repossessions, foreclosures, and various court collection actions.
  • Determines Credit Union position in Bankruptcy proceedings and works to minimize losses.
  • Directs legal counsel in all court complaints and post judgment actions including garnishments, supplemental orders, and execution.
  • Proactively reviews procedures and provides manager with process improvement opportunities.
  • Handle member escalations received from team members or from other areas of the credit union.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and skills:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years collections experience, preferably within the credit union industry.
  • Possess a deep knowledge of all portfolios including bankruptcy, repossessions, and foreclosures which include Fannie Mae servicing guidelines.
  • Ability to make appropriate decisions related to repossession of vehicle and acceptable payment arrangements.
  • Seasoned negotiation skills to arrive at best overall solution within established guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively, tactfully, and professionally with employees, members, and vendors.
  • Ability to work independently to meet deadlines with excellent follow through skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Products such as MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook
  • Must possess a cheerful outlook with the ability to motivate a team.
