Junior Software Developer

Overview

CommIT Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a Junior Software Developer to join the team in Charleston, SC-*can also be remote! The Junior Software Developer will contribute to the development, testing, and maintenance of software applications. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level developer eager to learn, grow, and collaborate in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Developers will follow Agile software methodologies and work well within a team environment.

Established in 2001, CommIT is a Certified Veteran-Owned Small Business (CVOSB) providing innovative technical engineering and data science services. Our enterprise systems support includes the Department of Defense’s (DoD) GCCS-MC, CAC2S, TBMCS-MC, and the Department of Veteran’s Affairs’ (VA) telehealth communications. We offer acquisition management, systems engineering, Agile software development, cloud management, IT modernization, data analytics, cybersecurity, and training, including leading-edge DevSecOps, automated testing, and mobile application development.

Responsibilities

Your essential job functions, skills and experience required will include but may not be limited to-

• Work closely with a collaborative development team to assist in designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions.
• Contribute to writing clean, maintainable, and scalable code for various projects.
• Learn and adapt to backend services, web development, or mobile development based on team needs and your strengths.
• Participate in debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving software defects and technical challenges.
• Collaborate with team members to gather and analyze user requirements and contribute to technical solutions.
• Assist in integrating APIs and services to enhance functionality across platforms.
• Write and maintain documentation for code, processes, and systems to support team collaboration.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute constructive feedback to improve team productivity and code quality.
• Stay curious and continuously learn new technologies, frameworks, and development practices.
• Understanding of core programming principles, such as object-oriented programming (OOP), data structures, and algorithms.
• Exposure to one or more programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript, or similar).
• Familiarity with basic software development processes, including debugging and testing.
• Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and frameworks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and stakeholders.
  
  

Qualifications

Required Experience and Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer-related field
• Mobile/Backend Service/Web development experience or interest is a plus
