Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Person in Charge performs management-assigned duties, including receiving inventory, stocking and maintaining a store section, operating a cash register, custom carry-out services, and store cleaning. In addition, assists the store manager in managing daily store operations, helps supervise associates, and performs basic bookkeeping duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Carries store keys to open and/or operate the front entry/exit doors, office, rollup door, and register.
- Assists the store manager in managing daily store operations in the absence of upper management.
- Helps supervise associates and performs basic bookkeeping duties.
- Maintains a store section: orders, receives and stocks merchandise using proper equipment; reviews invoices for accuracy; stocks shelves and sets up promotional displays.
- Operates a cash register: receives cash, makes change, processes transactions, and verifies customer eligibility for age-restricted sales.
- Offers friendly, courteous assistance to customers, provides current store and product information, and loads purchases into vehicles.
- Records lost/damaged goods and store supplies, performs checkout functions, and collects data.
Education and Experience
One to three (1-3) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Retail Management Certificate is desirable. PC skills preferred.

Ability to read, comprehend instructions, write simple correspondence, and effectively present information in small group situations.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide; compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions and deal with standardized situations.
Physical Demands
Regularly required to use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, and talk or hear. Frequently required to walk and climb. Must lift and/or move up to 25-60 pounds.
Work Environment
Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high places, and extreme cold. Moderate noise level in the work environment.
