Position Summary:
Social media content creator is a digital storyteller, crafting engaging narratives through posts, images, videos, and interactive media to captivate audiences across various social platforms. This role engages and compels content that resonates with audiences and fosters community engagement.
The creator connects with viewers and leaves a lasting impact in the ever-shifting world of social media.
Reporting Structure:
This is a part-time civilian position which reports directly to the DIT Manager and/or the Sheriff’s designee.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Craft narratives, produce multimedia content, and analyze trends to ensure creations capture attention and foster interaction.
Develop and implement communication plans and marketing campaigns, maintaining a clear and consistent visual brand/identity, and coordinate strategies for ongoing campaigns.
Create high-quality, original content including videos, graphics, blog posts, and social media posts.
Manage a content calendar to plan and schedule posts in advance.
Engage with followers and respond to queries in a timely manner.
Monitor social media and industry trends to stay ahead of the curve.
Analyze performance metrics to gauge content effectiveness and optimize future posts.
Adapt content to suit different social media platforms and their respective audiences.
Utilize SEO best practices to increase content visibility and engagement.
Run social media advertising campaigns in line with the content strategy.
Carry out any or all other duties as directed by the Sheriff, DIT Manager, and/or the Sheriff’s designee.
Work Environment:
Works within an office environment, interacting with Employees, City of Richmond Officials, and the general public.
Job Requirements:
A. Education and Training
Bachelor's Degree in public relations, communications, marketing, public affairs, or a directly related field. Two years of public communications experience such as writing, editing, graphic design, and layouts. An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet minimum qualifications.
B. Technical Requirements
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and similar graphic design/photo editing software programs.
