Job Overview

Responsible for organizing and managing the major gifts, annual gifts and planned gifts fundraising activities and operations of the Madonna Foundation for the Lincoln Campus, including defining and supervising the operational functions and processes that support the fundraising objectives, creating and managing the annual Foundation budget in conjunction with the Vice President of Development and the Associate Vice President of Development managing the financial, investment and administrative functions, and supporting the elements of the Madonna Foundation for the Lincoln Campus.

Essential Functions

  • Engages in major and planned gift fundraising from donor prospects in the Lincoln Campus area and surrounding region (or Omaha area and surrounding region), and manages the fundraising activities of Lincoln Campus Foundation staff.
  • Manages a portfolio, utilizing a Moves Management principal, of local, regional and national individual, corporate, foundation and planned gift prospects.
  • Utilizes research, evaluation, coordination, marketing/education and direct face-to-face solicitation, traveling when necessary, along with grant applications to secure funds for the Foundation.
  • Assists with planning and overseeing all special events related to fundraising. Works with staff to facilitate committee development, setting goals for events, identification of event sponsors and underwriters, and overseeing all other related details with each event and meeting approved fund development goals.
  • Assists with administering the scheduling and financial detailing of the annual budget, and financial reporting activities of the Foundation with the direction of the Vice President of Development and Associate Vice President of Development.
  • Monitors, analyzes and advises the Vice President of Development and the Associate Vice President of Development of financial performance against budget, including status of unrestricted cash to meet operating needs.
  • In coordination with the Operations Manager, assist in developing and maintaining an operations manual that lists the functions of the Foundation and the person responsible for each function, and details the processes necessary to produce the planned outcome of each function.
  • In consultation with the Operations Manager, assist in the coordination of the equipment, furnishings and other environmental needs of the Foundationâ??s Lincoln Campus (or Omaha Campus), planning and implementing maintenance or purchase in accordance with the annual budget.
  • Assists supervisor in organizational and reporting matters that relate to the governing Boards of Directors of the Hospital and Foundation and their committees.
  • Engages in professional and educational development activities to stay abreast of current developments in operations and administration of fundraising organizations.

(PEOPLE)

  • Assists in recruiting, hiring and supervising the Lincoln Campus Foundation staff and volunteers and specifically the Lincoln Campus Gift Officer.
  • Monitors and evaluates staff performance to ensure compliance with all expectations and standards of practice. Provides supervision, mentoring, and coaching to develop department staff.
  • Perceives customer relations as a primary focus, and continually strives to satisfy the needs of every customer in all functions of the Madonna Foundation and of Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals.
  • Coordinates foundation activities with appropriate people or functions of the hospitals.
  • Coordinates fundraising plans with hospital staff, the Vice President of Development, the Associate Vice President of Development and the CEO of MRH to ensure alignment with the goals of the hospitals.
  • Communicates regularly with Associate Vice President of Development on the implementation of development initiatives and plans.
  • Communicates regularly with the Associate Vice President of Development in coordinating Foundation Board communications and Board member relations, as it relates to major giving and leadership opportunities.
  • Provides and operates motor vehicle and travels as necessary in order to contact and serve clients.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree required with a preference for a degree in marketing, communications or business administration.
  • Five yearsâ?? experience in fundraising is required, with a preference that such experience includes management and oversight of fundraising administration and operations.
  • Two of the five years supervisory experience is required.
  • Must have demonstrated the ability to be a self-starter, start and complete tasks, develop organizational and functional models, work creatively and collaboratively with staff, volunteers, donors and potential donors.
  • Must reside within the community of primary fundraising area.
  • Must have valid driverâ??s license and proof of good driving record. Proficient computers skills including Internet and word processing required.
