Philadelphia FIGHT was initially founded in 1990 as a comprehensive AIDS service organization. Today we are a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with clinical sites that provide state-of-the-art culturally competent primary care, advocacy, social services, consumer education and outreach for patients in need regardless of HIV or insurance status. FIGHT is hiring for a Behavioral Health Receptionist. The BH Receptionist will support the Diana Baldwin Mental Health Clinic. Our clinic is staffed by a small and growing team of diverse, spirited and competent mental health professionals.   • High School Diploma
  • Trained in CPR
  • Experience working in clinical settings
  • Can demonstrate sound judgement, patience, integrity, organization, and prioritization in a multi-task environment
  • Pays attention to detail, is dependable and flexible, great listening and communication skills.
  • Competent in the use of Electronic Medical Record Systems

Responsibilities include:General duties:

  • Greet patients and visitors
  • Optimizes patient satisfaction, provider time, and treatment.
  • Check in patient which includes
  • Collecting paperwork
  • Updating demographic information
  • Verifying insurance
  • Collection payment
  • Keep patients appointments on schedule by notifying providers
  • Comfort patients by anticipating patients anxieties, answering questions and maintaining the reception area
  • Manage patient flow including triaging of walk ins
  • Keep reception area clean and organized
  • Generate urgent/emergent referrals
  • Schedule appointments for patients and the Health Center
  • Answer the phone promptly and in a polite professional manner
  • Obtain and enter accurate demographic information in the electric medical record system

Schedule appointments for patients:

  • Answer telephone promptly and in a polite professional manner
  • Obtain and enter accurate demographic information into the electric medical record system
  • Schedule appointments
  • Inform caller of items to bring to appointments (including insurance card, medications, office visit fee and verification of income)
  • Remind caller to arrive 15 to 30 minutes before scheduled appointment to complete paperwork
  • Answer questions and offer information, as requested, to provide patient-focused service and a positive impression of the organization
  • Confirm next-day appointments
  • Make calls to reschedule appointments when necessary

Act as liaison for patients and the Health Center

  • Direct calls to other departments and needed and appropriately
  • Use sound judgement in handling calls, especially with upset patients
  • Understanding of when to escalate calls to nurse/physicians/practice manger
  • Generate urgent/emergent referrals

Function in a team

  • Work in compliance with all medical policies
  • Work in compliance with standards such as OSHA, HIPPA, CLIA and funding body regulations
  • Demonstrate commitment to clinical care and confidentiality
  • Provide cross-coverage at 3 other health centers on an as needed basis
  • Provide cross-coverage for other positions with the Health Center
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
  • Exercise good judgment in bringing any issues necessary to the attention of the Administrative Director
  • Constantly strive to achieve excellence in the day-to-day operations of the Jonathan Lax Treatment Center

Other: Initial probationary period is three months. Performance of other tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis.Salary range: Competitive with benefits includedWork environment: Generally works in a clinical office, but may occasionally be required to perform duties outside of the typical clinical setting.Physical demands: Ability to continuously stand, walk or sit. Ability to bend, climb stairs frequently. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds infrequently. Ability to squat occasionally.Work hours: 40 Hours/Week (M-F 9:00am - 5:00pm); Non-exemptPhiladelphia FIGHT requires proof of completed COVID-19 vaccination series for all new employees hired.
