Job Summary
Manages the therapeutic milieu to assure the safety of students, other staff members and visitors, and provides support, as needed, throughout the milieu. Acts as a team member by relating relevant information to other team members, brainstorming solutions to problems, and working collaboratively to implement team initiatives.

Job Summary
Manages the therapeutic milieu to assure the safety of students, other staff members and visitors, and provides support, as needed, throughout the milieu. Acts as a team member by relating relevant information to other team members, brainstorming solutions to problems, and working collaboratively to implement team initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Supports classroom instruction by assisting with the implementation of lessons under the direction of and in collaboration with the classroom teacher.
- Establishes rapport with students and an overall positive tone by clearly communicating rules and expected standards of behavior for students, and ensuring that rules are reinforced.
- Provides consequences for inappropriate behaviors, which are reasonable, immediate, and consistent with overall Program structure.
- Fosters development of positive culture throughout School.
- Practices de-escalation, physical restraint, time-out procedures, and emergency evacuation of building according to established procedures to ensure the physical safety of the students.
- Assesses environment for safety hazards that could harm patients/students, visitors, or other staff members, and reports hazards to appropriate supervisor.
- Learns about students- strengths, weaknesses, and needs by reading assessments, meeting with team, and accessing clinical staff, when needed. Responsible for knowing the location and condition of students under supervision at all times.
- Provides coverage for classes and/or groups, when needed; aids and assists with preparation for classes and/ or curriculum.
- Provides administrative support such as filing, ordering supplies, copying, preparing daily census, performing lunchtime duties, organizing dismissal transportation, etc.
- Bachelor's degree
- Previous experience working in an educational or behavioral health setting, preferred
- Valid CT driver's license is required
- Requires proven expressive, receptive and written language skills
- Basic working knowledge of computers and general office equipment
