Technical Trainer

Overview
Responsible for training our construction equipment mechanics and generator technicians company-wide, including training on fundamentals, new advances in the field, and best repair/troubleshooting practices. This position can be based out of any of our locations: Newington, CT; Poughkeepsie, NY; Medford, NY; Bronx, NY; Holtsville, NY; Bloomingburg, NY.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay: $75,000-$100,000/year (depending on prior relevant experience)
Bonus Potential: 15%

Key Qualifications
- Strong technical acumen required; experience as a Technician in diesel engines, construction equipment, electric power generation, or similar areas – CAT specific technical knowledge highly preferred
- Experience in designing and delivering training
- Strong communication, presentation, writing, analysis, & organizational skills required
- Proficiency in PC use, including MS Office & ability to learn new PC applications required
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel regularly, some overnight
Responsibilities
Ensure identified technical training is delivered effectively
- Personally facilitate/deliver scheduled classes, or ensure delivery by others
- Assist Training Manager with development of training calendar/schedule
- Plan and coordinate training events to ensure effective delivery
- Collaborate with Training Manager, Service Departments, and Training Administrator to finalize class rosters
Support ongoing development of service departments
- Assist in the technician evaluation process to identify training gaps and develop individual training plans
- Collect technician effectiveness data and assess capability
- Stay informed of CAT training offerings and new product updates
Facilitate overall growth and maintenance of H.O. Penn
- Remain a technical expert/resource for H.O. Penn
- Conduct customer training as required
- Ensure equipment required for training is available and up-to-date
- Contribute to recruitment efforts with Technical/Vocational schools
Physical Requirements
- Standing and/or sitting for prolonged periods
- Hand coordination (typing and writing)
- Frequent walking and potential climbing
- Occasional bending and reaching
- Carrying (up to 20 lbs)
