Position

The Marketing Assistant supports the marketing department by carrying out the daily tasks that keep the department functioning and facilitates the duties of the Marketing Manager as well as Commission staff from other departments as needed. This role has a specific focus and responsibility toward planning and executing marketing events and tradeshows in the local and national markets. The ideal candidate is a highly organized self-starter who is capable of working cross-functionally on the planning and the implementation of marketing projects and events. You will need to display versatility to handle ad-hoc projects as assigned.

Marketing

  • Help plan and execute marketing campaigns
  • Assist in directing graphic designers and vendors to create engaging marketing materials such as brochures, merchandise, newsletters, and digital assets
  • Monitors and manages social media accounts, including creating and posting content and engaging with followers
  • Write, edit, and proofread communications and marketing materials
  • Brainstorm and pitch creative content ideas that align with brand goals
  • Help create and manage content across various websites
  • Assist the Marketing Manager with administrative tasks
  • Undertakes ad-hoc marketing projects and collaborates across other departments as needed

Events

  • Serve as end-to-end lead on all LWC-sponsored events
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to identify and evaluate opportunities for brand exposure at local and national festivals and tradeshows
  • Conduct site visits and secure event venues
  • Help negotiate contracts with venues and vendors
  • Serve as primary, onsite point of contact for participants, vendors, volunteers, and sponsors during events
  • Coordinate event ticket sales
  • Maintain accurate records of event data, including attendance, feedback, and outcomes
  • Assist in post-event reporting and analysis to identify areas for improvement
  • Maintain a list of available caterers and equipment rental suppliers to support events
  • Clean, store, and maintain inventory of marketing materials and equipment following each event

Administrative

  • Answer telephone and direct calls to appropriate departments
  • Work with the Marketing Manager and other departments as needed on preparing reports, documents, presentations, or any type of document needed to support the business
  • Maintain various databases and lists

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business or equivalent
  • 1-2 years prior experience in marketing, sales, advertising, promotions, digital media preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong results orientation and project management skills. Excels at juggling a wide range of administrative and marketing support projects to meet project goals and timelines. Flexible when needs and priorities shift.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.). Experience with Adobe Create Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) is considered an advantage.
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, and early mornings as needed. Occasional travel including overnight(s) to and from events as needed.
  • Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License and have reliable transportation to and from the workplace and during working hours
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds (a case of wine)

Established in 1991, the Lodi Winegrape Commission represents the common interests of Lodi winegrowers with programs in marketing, education, research, and sustainable viticulture. The Commission collectively and effectively promotes Lodi’s vibrant, multi-generational farming community and California’s most dynamic wine region. Comprised of nine commissioners and nine alternates, the board of directors provides direction and input on behalf of the region’s 750 winegrowers. Working together, Lodi growers are successfully moving the Lodi region forward as a high quality, environmentally and socially conscious production area.
