This team is for you! We are seeking a dynamic, motivated manufacturing CAD Designer to join our talented team! This position provides production support to the manufacturing operation by analyzing engineering sketches, reviewing product design, preparing customer approval drawings, utilizing CAD software, and creating and refining detailed assembly drawings.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for using computer assisted design/drafting CAD software to develop product designs. CAD Designers intake customer requirements and develop a manufacturing ready assembly of parts. CAD Designers develop solutions throughout the design process to achieve customer operation requirements, both independently driven and through the collaboration of key stakeholders/subject matter experts. CAD Designers must have a strong attention to detail to analyze engineering drawings and review product designs for compliance with engineering principles, customer requirements, company standards, and regulatory agency requirements. CAD Designers work closely with manufacturing to understand the impact of decisions made throughout the design process and may work with other departments, such as account services, customer care, and installation. CAD Designers may perform other tasks as needed

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Use computer assisted design/drafting CAD software to develop designs.
  • Design framework for projects and create detailed design documentations; align drawings with product design and project goals.
  • Analyze engineering sketches, specifications, and data/drawings to determine design factors (size, shape, overall assembly of parts) and suggest areas of improvement.
  • Revise design parameters based on feedback, job changing requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Observe construction of products to understand the impact of design decisions and provide production support towards assembly area.
  • Aid in the selection of materials for products.
  • Review product designs for compliance with principles, standards, and requirements.
  • Prepare customer approval drawings and manufacturing details (i.e., exploded views).
  • Create and refine basic to complex detailed assembly drawings.
  • Create and refine completed BOM (Bill of Materials) for one or more projects.
  • Participate in weekly meetings and project management key milestone meetings.
  • Propose new ideas, programs, and policy enhancements.

Minimum Education And Experience

  • 2 Year / associate degree
  • 1 - 2 years related experience and/or training

Other Skills And Abilities

  • Proficient computer skills; ability to use MS Office Suite, including Outlook and Excel.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and order entry systems, such as SyteLine.
  • Ability to read architectural blueprints.
  • Ability to use basic 3D Solid Modeling CAD, such as SolidWorks, Inventor, REVIT, ProE, CREO, Solid Edge, etc.
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) standards.
  • Knowledge of part preparation for manufacturing, such as DXF file creation.
  • Knowledge of foodservice industry standards and related manufacturing materials.
  • Knowledge of compliance considerations for the foodservice industry, such as ETL (Electrical Laboratory. Testing) and NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) regulations.
  • Design oriented; generates creative solutions; translates concepts and information into images; uses feedback to modify designs; applies a variety of principles and attention to detail in the design process.
  • Analytical; synthesizes complex and diverse information; collects and researches data; uses intuition and experience to complement data; designs workflows and procedures.
