Optum Multi-Specialty has an immediate opening for a friendly, patient-focused, and detail-oriented Associate Patient Care Coordinator. The Associate Patient Care Coordinator is responsible for the completion of set processes and protocols, working cooperatively with all members of the care team to support the vision and mission of the organization, deliver excellent customer service, and adhere to Lean processes.
Schedule: A 40-hour work week schedule to be determined by the supervisor, Monday through Friday between 11:30 am to 8:00 pm. May float to other offices as needed.
Location: 116 East 16th Street, Third Floor, New York, NY 10003 and 120 West 23rd Street, Ground Floor, New York, NY 10011
Primary Responsibilities:
- Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner
- Verifies insurance information, address and phone number of the patient, registers new patients
- Arrives patients on the computer for scheduled appointments
- Collects and posts co-pays and any other payment at time of service
- Schedules patients for future appointments
- Assists therapists with paperwork needed for pre-certification of therapy visits
- Answers telephone, takes messages for the practice
- Performs clerical duties such as copying, faxing, and filing
- Contacts patients in case of no call/no show
- Ability to use an electronic health record (EPIC)
- Effectively executes time management by notifying the provider team of the patient’s arrival
- Helps ensure continuity of care and communication between Orthology providers and other partners as appropriate
- Completes clinic reports and administrative duties to ensure exceptional patient care
- Executes working knowledge of HIPAA privacy laws by protecting patient information
- Opens or closes the clinic facility

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma / GED (or higher)
- 1+ years of customer service or healthcare related experience
- Intermediate level of computer proficiency
- Ability to travel 25% of the time to Manhattan and Sunnyside practices if needed
- Ability to attend training in Lake Success, NY
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience in a medical front office position
- Experience with an electronic health record (EPIC)
- Knowledge of medical terms
- Bilingual in Spanish and English

- Demonstrated ability to work well with healthcare providers
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
The salary range for this role is $16.00 to $28.85 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
