The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a Full-Time Licensed Clinical Social Worker (GS-0185-12) to work in support of the 7th Bomb Wing True North program on Dyess AFB in Abilene, Texas.
The primary purpose of this position is to provide a full range of professional social work services within operational Air Force (AF) squadrons. Serves as a member of a multidisciplinary Integrated Operational Support (IOS) team directly supporting the Line of the Air Force (LAF) mission assigned True North (TN) program with the goal of building resiliency, enhancing human performance and improving unit mission effectiveness. Clinical and administrative duties focus on education and prevention, psychosocial assessment and diagnosis, and evidenced-based interventions and treatment.

- Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education
- Possess a current, unrestricted license to practice clinical social work independently in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S Virgin Islands
- Must possess and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- As a condition of employment, government civilian providers must meet all applicable credentialing requirements IAW local military treatment facility guidelines and be fully qualified to perform within the scope of their practice
- Must have practiced as an independent licensed clinical social worker within past two years
- Professional knowledge of social work practices, principles, theories, and administrative requirements to be able to apply them in a clinical or occupational setting.
- Professional knowledge of evidence-based treatments for a full range of psychiatric disorders to plan and provide treatment to patients.
- Knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) of the American Psychiatric Association to evaluate psychiatric disorders and apply professional diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of military organizations and culture and the unique stressors upon workers in an operational military workplace.
- Knowledge of administration, scoring, and interpretation of select psychological and psycho-social measures to properly assess patient’s and family’s needs. Sophisticated understanding of behavioral risk management and ability to engage appropriate protections as needed when risk of harm to self or others is present.
- Ability to provide guidance and consultation services to medical professionals and military leaders, and facilitate referrals to military or community-based human service agencies and resources; e.g., Protective Services or financial aid organizations.
